Robert Young plays Jeff Cohalan, a young man whose wife was murdered while they were on their honeymoon, and who is plagued by strange accidents and visions of her death. He meets a beautiful young woman on a train, Ellen (Betsy Drake), and it becomes apparent that the two are very attracted to one another. Ellen soon learns about Jeff's past and is quickly drawn into his strange dark world, even when she begins to realize that Jeff may be much more dangerous than he seems.

Respectable Young vehicle with a psychiatric slant.
Nice guy architect is suspected of dangerous paranoia after bad things start to happen to him, forcing him, his loyal girlfriend and the local shrink to solve the mystery. Not at all bad despite the '40s clichés and a ponderously obliging conclusion.

Excellent movie. Was happy to find that Robert Young was not psychotic. He is one of my white favorite actors.

A decent attempt
This is an entertaining little "is he nuts or isn't he?" thriller with Robert Young who seemed to specialise in those "not all that he seems"roles.
Good support from the dependable Henry O'Neill and girl next door type Betsy Drake ( Mrs Cary Grant at the time)
It's way over the top but that's all part of the enjoyment

Beautiful, young woman???????
You really have to stretch it to call Betsy Drake a beautiful young woman. She is a nice wholesome looking person. But, she is as plain as a white washed fence.

I put mine on DVD's as data discs. The new dvd players play almost all these formats. Some times they don't play. If it is essential I have it to play on the big TV and it doesn't I reformat it with the free version of http://www.any-video-converter.com/

This is a simple thriller with some subtle misdirection accomplished by Jeff Cohalan, played by Robert Young. Several characters are worried about him since the accidental death of his betrothed. He is withdrawn and escalating misfortune follows him. Ellen Foster, played by Betsy Drake, is drawn to Jeff whom she meets coming to town. She suspects foul play and investigates. The story plods along steadily. The acting is good enough, as is the direction. The accompanying music fits well.
I downloaded the 706MB Cinepack file. The video quality is tolerable, but low (950 Kbps DivX 4). The audio is is good. Not good enough for burning to DVD.
